Solid pine with the grain left visible, lit from within so the light comes through the wood itself rather than from a bulb sitting on top of it. The effect is warm and low, closer to a candle than a lamp, which is why it works on a bedside table, a shelf or a dining table where a conventional lamp would be too much.
There is no cord. A 2000mAh battery runs the lamp for up to eight hours on a charge and refills in two to three hours over the included USB-C cable, so it can be carried outside to a table, taken to another room, or simply placed where there is no socket. Touch control handles on, off and three brightness levels, and the lamp remembers the level it was last set to, so it returns to your setting rather than to full output.
Three shapes are offered, cylindrical, square and rectangular, across a range of sizes from a small 2.3 inch block up to a longer 6.7 inch bar. They group well, so a set of two or three at different heights reads as a considered arrangement rather than a repeated object. The wood is left with a natural finish, which means each piece carries slightly different grain.
