A plain cylinder on a steel cable, with the LED set into the base so the light goes straight down. The form is about as reduced as a pendant gets, which is exactly why it suits a dining table, it marks the position without competing with what is on the table or blocking the view across it.

Around 30 to 36 inches from the tabletop is the usual range, adjusted to your ceiling. The steel cable is trimmed at installation so you can set it exactly.
Will it glare in my eyes when sitting?
No. The source sits recessed in the base of the cylinder, so at seated height you see the body of the pendant and not the diode.
How many for a long table?
